While we’re all waiting with bated breath for GECOM to announce the May 11th election results, have a look at a photo shared by Insight Magazine of a joyful elderly voter:
Although the majority of voters in this 2015 election were youth, dozens of photos circulated in the papers and on social media featuring older voters, some in wheelchairs, some with canes, some being carried or leaning on others, heading in to vote. I myself witnessed a blind, elderly man who couldn’t even walk alone with his cane and a woman who had to sit while the presiding officer explained the voting process. It was so heartening to see such dedication from people who clearly felt that there was no excuse for not voting.
